About
Shelley-Ann Bates has been a part of the Hillside community for almost four decades, attending Hillside’s public schools, Union County Community College and Rutgers University. An outspoken advocate for our community, Shelley-Ann has fought to maintain Hillside’s quality-of-life and to protect our homes.
On May 8th, 2007, Shelley-Ann and then-incumbent Councilmember Deborah Stroud were selected to appear in a run-off election. On June 12th, 2007, after getting to know her independent thinking, the richness of her experiences and her love of community and public service, Hillsiders elected Shelley-Ann Bates to the Township Committee representing Hillside’s Second Ward.
