The Finance Committee, of which I am not a member, has made public the series of meetings to determine the Fiscal Year 2009 municipal budget.  Given the 15-30 minutes allotted per department head, it is unlikely there will in-depth discussions on how our tax dollars will be spent.  While no questions from the public will be allowed during these meetings, I’m sure taxpayers will give the Councilmembers their input at a later council meeting.  In any case, this is a step (a very small, infinitesimal step) in the right direction towards a more open government.
